On March 15, 1911, Jack Hamm was brought into the world in Kansas City, Missouri. He rose to become a renowned American artist, author, and illustrator, with a large part of his fame stems from his contribution to the comic book series “The Adventures of Tintin”. At 18 years old, Hamm embarked on his art career, delving into the world of freelance illustration for newspapers and magazines. His comic book career was born when ‘The Travels of Jody Whiteman’ was released by Dell Comics in 1934. Gaining traction within the industry, Hamm then continued to illustrate for Dell and their many series including ‘The Lone Ranger’, ‘The Cisco Kid’, and ‘The Gumps’.
In the late 1930s, Hamm embarked on a journey as a collaborator with the Belgian comic book publisher, Casterman. It was here that he crossed paths with the Belgian artist, Herg. Together they created spellbinding colour illustrations for several editions of ‘Tintin “, such as “The Secret of the Unicorn” and “Red Rackham’s Treasure”.
Until his passing in 1968, Hamm had been an illustrator and comic illustrator, and even in the present, his work is still enjoyed by admirers and reprinted in various languages.
