Charles Brady King, the ingenious inventor of 1871, revolutionized manual labour when he crafted the first jackhammer. This pneumatic or electro-mechanical device seamlessly combined the action of a hammer and a chisel and is now used to demolish hard materials such as asphalt and concrete.
The tool comprises of a wooden or metallic handle linked to a pistoning device. This assembly drives a strong chisel fashioned from steel, enabling it to cut through and break up the material it is embedded in.
Gripped in the hand of the user, a trigger on the handle of the jackhammer provides the engine for its operation. As its command is obeyed, a clattering piston thrusts the chisel abruptly downward, shattering the material below into fragmented pieces which are quickly driven clear.
Providing adaptability to a range of jobs, the jackhammer is a practical option for work involving solid substances. From concrete to stone and even asphalt, this tool can be utilized for cracking open and breaking apart many resilient surfaces.
Working with a jackhammer can be a hazardous activity if not done with proper precautions in place. It is strongly recommended to put on safety gloves and goggles when handling this incredibly powerful tool to ensure your safety.
